Anne Neville's Surviving Letters
Topic: Anne Neville's Surviving Letters
Overview
This packet preserves the currently located source trail for surviving letters by Anne Killigrew Neville. It corrects the earlier working gap in the main Anne packet: the letters are not merely Twitter or blog leads. Ken's 2019 email identifies five letters by Anne Killigrew Neville, and local image/PDF witnesses have now been copied into the Neville Book research folder.
This packet is not yet a final transcription packet. The safe present claim is that image witnesses exist locally and that working visual transcriptions now exist in the MegaLetters corpus for the two Windebank letters and three Anne/Cecil letters. Those transcriptions are stronger than OCR or Twitter leads, but they still need line-by-line image collation before book quotation.

Ken Feinstein Twitter and Blog Information
- Ken's email summary is important source-provenance information: it identifies the working set as five Anne Killigrew Neville letters, three in the Cecil Papers and two in State Papers.
- Existing Twitter/thread references in the main Anne packet remain useful leads, but the local manuscript-image set should now control future claims about these letters.

Notes on Access
- The Cecil Papers images are strong manuscript-image leads but still need full catalogue matching.
- The Windebank PDFs provide firm State Papers metadata; the corresponding MegaLetters files now provide searchable working transcriptions.
- The MegaLetters transcriptions should not be treated as final diplomatic transcriptions until a line-by-line image collation pass is completed.
- BRO/Royal Berkshire household hits are useful for the Neville family environment, but they do not currently alter the five-letter Anne corpus. Do not cite them as Anne letters unless a direct Anne-authored item is identified and image-collated.
- The Thomas Windebank hub packet preserves the broader recipient context: thomas_windebank.md.
- The additional Gmail JPG filenames (
IMG-5952.JPG,IMG-5953.JPG,IMG-5954.JPG,IMG-5957.JPG) are preserved in the same source folder and should be matched before independent citation. - This packet is deliberately separated from the MegaLetters contamination issue. MegaLetters
Doc_26andDoc_35are Henry Savile letters and must not be cited as Anne Neville correspondence.
Fourth-Batch Fact-Source Update, 2026-06-24
- The controlled direct corpus remains five Anne Neville letters: three Cecil Papers image leads (
CP 93_72,CP 122_145,CP 132_164) and two Windebank/State Papers PDF leads (SP 12/279fols.30and32). - MegaLetters documents
116-120are useful working transcriptions, but final prose should still cite a line-by-line image collation. - BRO household and Royal Berkshire hits are context for the Neville family environment. They do not currently add Anne-authored letters and should not be counted as part of the Anne corpus.
