Overview

This packet is a source-control map for Ken Feinstein's preserved First Folio tweet threads. It is not a proof packet for the First Folio argument. It should route each tweet claim to a dedicated evidence packet and prevent the broad synthesis claims from being used in book prose without source hardening.

Source-Control Update, 2026-05-29

• Promoted from lead_packet / lead / draft to source_map_packet / mixed / needs_review.
• The verified layer is the basic First Folio bibliographical baseline from current Folger pages.
• The Neville-facing layer remains mixed: some strands now have dedicated evidence packets, while others remain tweet-level or image-led leads.
• A sweep of [local source path removed] for First Folio, Jonson, Herbert, Jaggard, Blount, Walkley, Heminges, Condell, Digges, Mabbe, Holland, Windebank, Sonnets, Othello, Virginia, and posterity found no direct BRO transcription witness for this First Folio synthesis lane. Doc_73 is only grouped as a screenshot of printed Ben Jonson text; no direct Doc_73 Markdown transcription file is currently present.
• The Leonard Digges strand is now routed through leonard_digges.md: local EarlyPrint A11954 controls his 1623 First Folio poem, local A12034 controls his 1640 Benson Poems witness, Shakespeare Documented controls the 1613 Lope/Sonnets flyleaf note, and the older Dudley-Digges-First-Folio-poem wording is quarantined as false.

• Added a direct page-image packet for the Herbert dedication and Jonson front-matter/epigram lanes: SOURCE_NOTES.md.
• Added a second direct page-image packet for Hugh Holland, Leonard Digges, and the I.M. prefatory poem: SOURCE_NOTES.md.
• The Herbert dedication lane now has 1623 page-image controls from the Archive/Boston Public Library Barton First Folio, including the dedication opening and the Orphanes, Guardians continuation.
• The Ben Jonson lane now has 1623 First Folio page images for To the Reader and the long Shakespeare encomium, plus 1616 Jonson folio page images for CIX. To Sir Henry Nevil.
• The Leonard Digges, Hugh Holland, and I.M. First Folio lanes now have direct Archive/BPL page-image controls for their 1623 signatures/headings. Remaining Chapter 20 image work should prioritize colophon/publisher-charge details, copy-comparison checks, Digges's 1640 Benson poem, Holland's Coryate/Convivium witnesses, Mabbe's Rogue preliminaries, and the Balliol flyleaf note.

Worker A Source-Control Check, 2026-05-30

• Rechecked the owned First Folio/publication batch against [local source path removed]. No new direct BRO witness was found for the First Folio synthesis, the Herbert dedication, Jaggard, Edward Blount, Windebank provenance, or Anne Neville's alleged Folio role.
• Negative BRO controls are meaningful but narrow: there are no Windebank / Windebanke hits and no Jaggard / Iaggard / Astrologomania hits; the Blunt hit is a later Florence letter phrase, S^r H. Blunts order, not Edward Blount; Doc_73 remains removed screenshot metadata, not an archival transcription.
• Rechecked local EarlyPrint controls for the owned batch: A11954 controls the First Folio title/dedication layer, A00303 controls the 1610 Healey/Florio/Blunt-Barret issue, A17971 controls the 1624 Astrologomania imprint, A04766 controls the 1622 Anne Neuill dedication layer, and A14521 controls the 1620 Virginia Company accounting list.
• Use this packet only as routing. The controlling citations remain the dedicated evidence packets plus final page-image collation where still open.

Verified Sourced Facts

• Current Folger pages identify the First Folio as the first published collection of Shakespeare's plays, published in 1623, seven years after Shakespeare's death.
• Folger states that the First Folio contains 36 plays, with 18 plays first printed there.
• Folger identifies John Heminge/Heminges and Henry Condell as the former colleagues who gathered the plays.
• Folger's current production summary says the book was published by a London syndicate headed by Edward Blount and Isaac Jaggard, and that William Jaggard printed it before Isaac took over after William's death.
• Current Folger pages state that roughly 750 copies were probably printed and that 235 First Folios are currently known to survive.
• Current Folger pages state that the Folger Shakespeare Library holds 82 First Folios, the largest collection in the world.

• Do not cite this packet for the claim that Philip Herbert purchased the wardship of Neville's grandson. Current Herbert/Henry Neville III source control points to William Herbert / Pembroke unless a separate source proves otherwise.
• Do not cite this packet for Anne Killigrew Neville compiling, managing, or publishing the First Folio. Current direct evidence has not been isolated.
• Do not cite this packet for a direct Neville-family manuscript route into Othello Q1 or the First Folio. The Walkley/Neville corridor is documented, but the manuscript route remains open.

Fact-Source Update, 2026-06-24

• Shakespeare Documented's 8 November 1623 Stationers' Register entry is the cleanest current public control for the Blount/Isaac Jaggard registration of the First Folio's sixteen not-previously-entered plays.
• Folger's Troilus and Cressida page is important for Folio routing because it explains the play's irregular First Folio placement and Catalogue omission. This gives the Troilus/First Folio lane a fact-based source rather than leaving it as tweet-level inference.
• This pass adds no new direct Anne Killigrew, Windebank, or Neville household paper route into Folio production. Those remain separate provenance or estate-management leads, not Folio-making evidence.
