To the right worshipfull my very good Cosen Sr. Henry Savile knight at Merton College in Oxford.

Sr. I have advised Sr. Richard Brooke to passe by oxford, and to have som conference with the deane of christchurch about the renewing of the lease; and the rather, to take the opportunyty of your beeing there, and to vse both your advise and furtherance in his sute. which he will intreate of you, and I earnestly pray you to afford him. I would not wish him to make any absolute conclusion now, but only to sound what they will demaund, and to take a time to give aunswer till the next terme, after he hath spoken with his father. I pray you take so much paines as I pervse the copie of his lease, and thereby, and with som questions which perhaps he willbe able to satisfy you in, you will vnderstand his busynes the more throughly, which of yt self, mee thinketh is somwhat intricate. And so with our hartyest commendacions, wishing you good succes in your phisike I committe you to god. from Pillingbeare the 14th of September 1608
