New object-level cluster

The local combined workbook contains at least nine rows that are simultaneously marked 1780 BRO list and UCL AEH? = 1 and that form a coherent political, geographical, linguistic, and philosophical cluster:

What the full texts reveal

The cluster is considerably more connected than its short catalogue titles suggest:

Central interpretive consequence

This is not adequately described as a collection of possible Shakespeare “source books.” It is a working political-geographical environment: language study, classical lives, civic philosophy, comparative sovereignty, Ottoman/Persian history, world trade, routes, commodities, and Tacitean satire. Its strongest relevance to Neville is the overlap with things he demonstrably did—diplomatic reporting, legal and commercial reasoning, parliamentary counsel, East India attention, Persian-route consultation, and advice on government.

Its Shakespeare relevance should be investigated through exact, Folger-controlled problems: magistrates and equity in Measure for Measure; Timon's misanthropic identity; Italian linguistic competence; and the playworld's use of international trade and political geography. Catalogue coincidence alone is never the conclusion.

Coordinated object-imaging proposal

Requesting isolated title pages will not answer provenance. The nine objects should be photographed under one protocol:

  1. front and back boards, spine, fore edge, and dimensions;
  2. pastedowns, flyleaves, title, colophon, bookplates, shelf marks, and acquisition codes;
  3. every manuscript annotation and reader mark;
  4. watermarks and binding features where accessible;
  5. the exact research leaves identified in the individual topics;
  6. a shared comparison of bindings and shelf labels across all nine volumes.

If the group shares bindings, labels, or bookplates, it may reveal a later collective rebinding or transfer. If individual books preserve earlier inscriptions, those could move the chronology materially closer to Neville. The physical cluster is now important enough to justify a coordinated English Heritage request.
